A mother of two sons, Christina was elected as an SNP MSP for Central Scotland in May 2007. She is a member of the Scottish Parliament Education, Lifelong Learning and Culture Committee and of cross-party groups on learning disability, asylum seekers and refugees, children and young people and nuclear disarmament.
Before being elected, Christina worked as a Learning and Development Officer with Glasgow City Council Social Work Services, following a career as a social worker for people with learning disabilities and mental health problems. She is an active member of Unison.
